"I have the privilege of a European passport, I have been able to enjoy a good education, I am strong. I have to use these privileges to support other women who live on the downside. "Monika Hauser
At the end of 1992, Monika Hauser learns of mass rape of Bosnian women during the Balkan war and is furious - also about the recent abuse of victims by the media. She goes to the war zone to help, mobilizes supporters and applies for aid. In 1993, supported by Bosnian psychologists and doctors, she opened the Medica Zenica Women's Therapy Center in central Bosnia. Pioneering work that lays the foundations for the association "medica mondiale", whose involvement has been extended over the years, first to Kosovo, then to Afghanistan and many other countries. In the work of the association continues the principles with which Monika Hauser was already infected during her medical education in the institutions: the demand for a more sensitive treatment of patients and a feminist criticism of structural maladies in conventional medicine and crisis and development aid ,
What did Monika Hauser think about the topic that accompanies her throughout her life? And what drives them? The portrait of the directors Evi Oberkofler and Edith Eisenstecken combines insights into the everyday life of the women's rights activist with retrospectives and reflections on the previous stages of her journey.
