The Original USA Gospel Singers & Band

With over 25 years’ touring experience and more than a million enthusiastic audience members, the Original USA Gospel Singers & Band are among the best-known gospel ensembles in the world. Not only have they wowed audiences at the venerable La Scala in Milan, but they have even performed at the Christmas concert for the Pope at the Vatican.

This African-American gospel group authentically brings the original spirit of Black gospel culture to the stage. From Mahalia Jackson to James Cleveland, the ensemble recounts the history of gospel in a two-hour programme. With a selection of top-class singers, soloists and live musicians, the audience experiences pure emotion, spirituality and a zest for life. What defines gospel

A hallmark of gospel is the call-and-response style of singing between soloist and choir. Its African roots are also distinctive: pentatonic scales, later expanded to heptatonic scales with ‘blue notes’, and the distinctive timbre of the voices. This gives rise to sounds full of expression, ranging from raw and powerful to gentle and delicate.
