Youth theater: Sherlock Holmes - Das Geheimnis des blauen Karfunkels (in german language)
For 3rd to 5th grade primary school
With facts, flair - and humour
The Countess of Morcar is horrified: The blue carbuncle has been stolen! Probably the most valuable of all gemstones, her one and only. In broad daylight, directly from her room in the Hotel Cosmopolitan. The culprit is quickly found. It must have been John Horner, a craftsman with a criminal record. But Sherlock Holmes, the master detective, and his assistant, Mr Watson, are certain: it's not that simple! Together with the neighbour's boy Bobby, who is a page at the Cosmopolitan, they begin to investigate. Does Bobby's superior, the dodgy James Ryder, have something to do with the disappearance? An old hat and a cheeky goose put Sherlock Holmes on the right track. He gathers facts, draws the right conclusions and gets ever closer to solving the mystery.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective stories have been a favourite for more than 130 years. Christian Himmelbauer has now turned one of his stories about the highly talented detective, who is as passionate about his sleuthing as a "nerd", into an exciting play with three actors and plenty of humour.
